Wikipedia tells me the finale was a year ago today. I hope it was a good year for everyone! It was a weird one for me—but ultimately a good one, I think—full of new challenges and adjustments, and plenty of decompressing from the five intense years of making Korra. Thanks to everyone for the continued support of our/my work, old and new. Here is a sneak peek of a thing I drew for a thing. I hope you all have a safe and happy end of the year!
So, back when I made this post, I laid out the idea that Zuko had been conditioned since his agni kai with Ozai to think that mercy and forgiveness was childish–that is until Book 3 when numerous events began to take place and that thinking of his started to be reversed.
I also mused that it would be interesting to to look at these two scenes side by side in order to compare Ozai and Katara’s beliefs about mercy and forgiveness…and really it speaks for itself: Ozai is a weak piece of shit, and Katara is “strong enough not to” when it comes to watching people beg for mercy before her.
That said, I’m kind kof freaked out by how well these two scenes mirror each other, the third row of gifs especially. Granted, I’m usually freaked out by anyone mirroring Ozai or Book 1 Zuko…because Ozai and Book 1 Zuko.
